Open Gates began in September of 2005
as a small international school offering the English National Curriculum for
children aged from 2-18. We are located on the lovely island of Koh Samui in
the Surat Thani province. Open Gates is situated in the Ban Rak community
across the street from the ocean overlooking views to neighboring Koh
Phangan. Our students and teachers come from over 14 different countries,
creating the quintessential environment to realize our aim of “Building
Global Citizens.” To embrace this goal, the school community focuses on

Domestic dogs are a big
problem on Koh Samui.
Please help us to deal with this problem in an humane way
 DOG
RESCUE CENTER SAMUI
Unfortunately, stray and abandoned dogs in
varying states of health can be found everywhere on Samui.
But the health
and welfare of the dogs have improved dramatically since April 1999 when the
Dog Rescue Center Samui (DRCS) was founded by a dedicated group of animal
lovers.
DRCS provides essential medical and surgical care (six spayings a
day), food and a home for many dogs (and cats) DRCS can also advise on how
to take a dog back to Europe/USA (easier than you might think). DRCS only
exists because of donations from tourists.
All donations (large and small)
are much appreciated. This is where you can help. Simply log on to

for details of how to make a donation or, if you have time, help out at the
center for a day or more. You can spend a day playing with 200 dogs and you
will never forget your visit to Koh Samui.
DRCS has a big shelter at Ban
Taling Ngam and a smaller one at Chaweng. Please come and visit.
